Why is there no auto Lame installer?

Submitted by Stevoisiak on November 17, 2009 - 10:49am

Recently, the Lame MP3 plugin started being distributed as an Exe, so you cannot just unzip the Dll file.

BonkEnc has a Lame PAF installer, Why not audacity?

Food Network uses Audacity

I wasn't even watching the TV, my wife was, they were doing a making-of one of the shows. Couldn't even tell you who it was, but the guy said he was on a set, and they were shooting something about football food. I just happened to look, and they were mixing the audio with Audacity.

I was really hoping to come in here and say it was one of the 1.3.x betas, but I took the DVR remote and went back, frame by frame. It's probably 1.2.6.

But it's nice to know that they're using a free, open source program that many of us use, and not some commercial program.

Cant export FLAC files?

Submitted by Warhawk on May 9, 2009 - 3:50pm

Ok, so I edited a song and tried to export it from flac, to flac or mp3.
It starts to export, but just freezes, says it has like an hour to go and stays on the 1st loading bar and doesn't do anything...
Nothing works, I don't know if it's just plain impossible to do or if I'm doing something wrong.

Can someone help?

Just tried it again, and it has an error message saying that it can't export it...

Recording from the Internet

Submitted by anon_private on February 21, 2009 - 12:30pm

I have a copy of Audacity installed on my pc. But it will not record from the Web. I think that this has something to do with the sound drivers that are installed on my pc.

My questions is: Is it likely that I would have more success using Audacity portable installed on a flashdrive or CD?

Thanks

recording OmniPage text "readings"

Submitted by rustyriley on February 8, 2009 - 3:49am

Hi, has anyone tried recording text "readings" from OmniPage -- I have OmniPage 16 standard, and I'd like to record "readings" from a number of text/Word documents as audio files. Have an Acer 5520 notebook -- not sure if Audacity can record from this, and not sure how to check.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Submitted by Master_tarquin on January 17, 2009 - 11:43am

Hi I have recently downloaded Audacity to my stick. As i saw on the web a long time ago, that’s what the program is good for. To make some snippets of Mp3s to have as Ringtones. Well i thought i did. I discovered I had only copied them. Can anyone tell me. What I am doing wrong.

Thanks

Version 1.3 workaround

Submitted by MatthewTennison on June 19, 2008 - 11:07am

I found a link today on Audacity's website for the newest version (1.3.5 at time of this post) as a zip file. They list it as an option for those at a computer lab that cannot run the installer. I was able to uzip the file at work and run the program without installing. I haven't tried it from my thumbdrive yet, so I don't know what glitches or problems there might be, but from my desktop it seems to work fine!

Here's the link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/beta_windows#recdown (under "Optional Downloads")
