PuTTY PortableAvoiding the registry alltogetherSubmitted by crux on November 14, 2009 - 6:38am
This forum has quite a few Windows registry issues. It may be possible to avoid storing settings in the registry (thus eliminating the need for the .reg file workaround) without modifying the PuTTY source code. The trick is to donate the modified source code to the developers of PuTTY and have them make it a part of their next release. ( categories: )
[Resolved] PuTTY don't load a local reg file with the sessionsSubmitted by guijarrelson on July 27, 2009 - 6:25pm
Hi, I have the latest PuTTY portable in my USB Stick, and I exported the sessions of my local PuTTY sessions to a reg file. This reg file I moved to \PortableApps\PuTTY\Data\settings\putty.reg When I open the Portable one, PuTTY read the local registry and load it. I want to load my reg file on my USB Stick instead the local registry. How I can do this? Greets! ( categories: )
Integration with WinSCP Portable![]() Submitted by qwertymodo on June 8, 2009 - 3:45pm
I use PuTTYPortable in conjunction with WinSCPPortable quite often because of the way my college's computer science department is set up, I have to submit assignments from the lab (not over email), so I tend to do remote logins from my laptop. Anyway, regardless of the why, the what is that there are several problems with the integration of PuTTYPortable with WinSCPPortable. ( categories: )

Days ago I discovered portable putty... The first problem I found was that I didn't have de psftp on the portable edition... So I just copied de .exe from my NON portable version of putty... Firstly I thought it wouldn't work, but when I went to another PC that didn't have puttys intalled, and I start putty portable edition (just turn on, without login in any session) and start as well the psftp (copied from my PC .exe) an then typed ( categories: )
Unable to amend registry for PuTTYSubmitted by Thyrisis on October 6, 2008 - 6:48am
Hi, I've been using various PortableApps on some heavily locked down PCs and one of the things that's locked down is amending the registry. It seems that PuTTY and therefore PuTTY Portable does need to do this in order to save anything from previous use and to avoid a warning dialog box at startup - is there anything that can be done to prevent PuTTY using the registry at all? Tunnels not savingSubmitted by erunaheru on September 10, 2008 - 9:14am
Tunnels that I create show up in the window, but when a session is opened they have no effect, and when I restart the program they are gone. If I run putty.exe instead of puttyportable.exe (and leave permanent registry entries), it works. ( categories: )

Putty (file config) 0.3.2Submitted by KyosukeAoki on June 22, 2008 - 11:12pm
A while back, I stumbled upon a version of PuTTY that used file configurations instead of registry configurations (http://jakub.kotrla.net/putty/). I've been using this configuration for a while for local use, but now that I'm getting on the road, I'm loading up my flash drive with Portable Apps, including PuTTY Portable. I've noticed that Putty Portable uses registry keys to store info, and I was wondering if it was possible to store it in separate files for ease of editing, and to reduce fragmentation and corruption. Disable SplashSubmitted by eddieparker on March 25, 2008 - 10:58pm
Hey! I love the idea for this portable app; my only question at this point is if I can disable the splash screen somehow? Also, even better, is there any common way of disabling the splash screens used on all the portable apps? Thanks! ( categories: )
[Fixed] No Sessions Are Saved At All (rev 2)Submitted by protocol on March 1, 2008 - 11:46am
I gladly replaced my old 'putty portable' installation with the new one, on my windows xp sp2 machine. With the new version, no sessions are saved at all. Actually my 'Data' directory always remains completely empty. Has anyone else encountered this? ( categories: )
