PuTTY Portable Extra Tools

mfidler - January 28, 2012 - 5:36pm

I needed extra tools to run PuTTY portable with Emacs, so I packaged many of the extra tools as add-ons to PuTTY portable

The source is located at:

https://github.com/mlf176f2/PuTTYPortableExtras

The installer is here:

Import setting from locally installed version

wallzy - August 26, 2011 - 10:56am

I have putty installed on my laptop (Win7) which is configured with many many server connections. I installed Putty portable on a USB drive because I thought it would be useful should I not have my laptop and need to access servers from another computer.

Is there an easy way to export all the setting in my current Putty set-up on my local machine to the portable version installed on my USB drive?

[Closed] Multiple Instances

cheilman - July 26, 2011 - 10:13am

You used to be able to run multiple instances of PuTTY Portable at once; this feature was removed in the latest version. Could we possibly get this back? Or is there a command line option or other way to tell the launcher that multiple instances are okay?

Registry Setting/Session confusion

comfortablynumb - May 5, 2011 - 3:58pm

Hi,
Putty Portable Rocks! I am just confused a bit on where the session details are saved though.
I'm trying to get Putty setup so that I can use it on my main system and also keep the details on a usb drive as well. I don't want the information in the registry if possible. I am also not sure on what the difference between Putty Portable & Putty Tray is? Aside from the icon tray has, or the transparency, I am wondering if it's the session data?

Where is the diff to the original version

shaiay - December 26, 2010 - 5:46am

Hi,

Thank you for your efforts at creating the portable version of putty.

Maybe I missed something obvious, but do you publish the modified source code for the putty portable app? Better yet is there an actual "diff" of the changes made by you for portability against the original code?.

Thank you again

Facebook working partially, & intermittently via SSH tunnel

dusf - October 19, 2010 - 5:56pm

There is a firewall at my office blocking Gmail, Facebook, Youtube, no doubt some other sites, and any URL with the word proxy in it.

To try and circumvent this I connect with PuTTY using the office proxy on port 8080 to my Ubuntu 10.04's OpenSSH server running at home on port 8080.

Puttyportable and Tortoisesvn

christophe - August 10, 2010 - 6:53pm

I try to setup tortoisesvn to use puttyportable for ssh and have a problem.
Tortoisesvn with a standard putty installation is working fine.
If I take the parameters I use in the standard installation and put them in the portable one, then I get an error message trying to connect to a repository
When I try to see the log of a file for example, it open the puttyportable splash windows then there is an error message : invalid port number.

Any idea ?

Thank you

App accesses drive with every line of output

rrbauer - August 7, 2010 - 10:35am

I've noticed that every time there is a new line of output in a session (whether it is coming from the remote host or I type a command and press enter), the access light on my usb drive blinks. I'm not sure if the app is reading or writing. Is there any way to disable this?

By the way, to the dev's of this and every portable app: huge thanks for such an great set of tools.
