The PortableApps.com Installer is a global system we use for all of our application here at PortableApps.com. The installer is custom-made by the project founder and lead developer. This installer allows for easy integration with the PortableApps.com Suite, as it directly finds the install path if already available. The PortableApps.com Installer also supports saving plugins from being removed of overwritten on upgrade, and the best part about the format and installer in combination is what we call 'in-place upgrades', allowing you to simply install the application update right over top the existing binary without losing any of your data.

This application release here allows you to automatically generate a PortableApps.com Installer for your own application so it may easily integrate with the our Platform, provided your application is in the documented PortableApps.com Format. All this takes is having your application in the PortableApps.com Format, and this program will generate an installer for your program using options and info defined in an INI file such as name, version numbers, plugin path, etc.

That's the just of it. It really has extreme differences from a compressed archive, all in efforts to make things easy for users and other third-party developer to integrate with our suite.

-- My thanx John for your forward looking vision & contribution in the spirit of "paying it forward" -- something many more in this world could stand to emulate. Following in the spirit of Covey's "8th Habit" may you be blessed as Zig Ziglar has proclaimed: “You can have anything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”
-- Although not anticipated, I've a couple of application development arenas to tip/promote your move have already come to mind.
