After downloading version 1.0 from:
https://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/SumatraPDFPortable_1.0.pa...
I double click on the file to install it and it asks what language to install. After clicking the okay button it crashes. The program goes no further. I am using Windows XP with SP3. What am I doing wrong? I have never had this problem before. I downloaded a previous version and it installed with no problems. Please help.
I can't reproduce this. Which language? What drive letters are available on your PC? Where do you have your other portable apps installed (full path)?
UPDATE: I just confirmed that the download from SourceForge installs properly on my Windows XP SP3 test machine, so something else is afoot here.

Can you try placing the installer in your C:\ root directory? Does your username have any special characters? Is Windows set to English?
Also, could you please try the new Google Chrome Portable installer running it from your desktop as well?

That's good, but would you be willing to try a couple more things to see what the issue was? The first would be trying the Google Chrome Portable current installer from your desktop. We want to be sure this doesn't happen for anyone else.

Ok, that means it's not just the 1.0 installer. Could you try this Sumatra PDF installer to see if it works from your desktop?

Thanks for helping with this david!

That was with the final 1.0 installer release whereas Sumatra Portable was built with one just prior. Could you try the original Sumatra Portable 1.0 again and confirm that it still crashes when run from the Desktop?

Is it possible you rebooted the box between when it failed 4 times and now? If so, it would seem to be something else.

Well, if you can get it to happen again or figure it out, please let us know. If anyone else experiences this, please post. Otherwise, with only a single report that's not longer reproducible, I think we may call it "one of those things".

I installed v1 fine without any issues (on Win XP and not to the "default" (root?) location either)
Corrupt download maybe?
