Tick5 Portable 1.0 has been released. Tick5 is an implementation of the board game known as gomoku, omok, piskvorky or wuziqi. With a 15x15 board, Tick5 is an extended 5-in-a-row version of Tic-Tac-Toe. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.
PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 5 users who already have this app installed, simply click 'Check for Updates' in your PA.c Menu to update to the new version.
Features
Your precious game won't be lost, it can be saved into a file instead. You can save a game and, later on, either resume it or review it. The size of the saved game is tiny (less than 1KB), you even can play the game with your buddies via e-mail by sending the file back and forth. If you are new to this game, you can use Tick5 as a learning tool. You can get a hint from the built-in AI player if you cannot figure out what's next move, undo moves if you find you made a mistake, and review the game by stepping through the all moves and analyze why you win or lose.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
Tick5 Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Comments
I've been duped.
I thought this was a GO game and I was really excited but it's similar. Maybe there will be a release for one like GO soon
Reversi / Othello
Tick5 is based on Reversi A.K.A. Othello.

As the "original" person that made a PortableApps compliant version of this program 3 years ago, I approve this release. Nicely done!
it's the pic ...
in the game and in the icon. I thought Othello was played in the squares, while GO is played on the lines.
Game is great though.
Though the name is weird.
Correction to my own post...
After playing the game, I discovered this is NOT a Reversi/Othello clone. It's more like the game Connect Four that's played vertically with checkers, but you need to get five of your Reversi/Othello/Go colored disks in a row before your opponent.
Sad :(
I was really really excited, downloaded the game ASAP and discovered its not GO. Sad
Please, ppl, a Go Game would be great. Actually I have only a complicated client on java
Thanks John,
You know I may be the developer...but I really really hate it's AI... I have yet to win
Name of game
This is classic Renju or Gomoku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renju) game.
Quite popular in Japan.
I was playing it in the childhood several years but (oh, shame) couldn't win any set in this Tick5
