Whoohoo! This isn't on the main page. But I don't know if you're doing that now.

P.S. I mean now as in right now, not as in general. Blum

In fact, just today I was wondering about OOoP. BTW, in the "Modifications" section it says that "UNO-Python bridge is left out to save space". Thanks again.

... but in this case You should delete some OOo configuration files too to tell Your OOo that python is not avaiable and to prevent Errors.

Or wait some hours and then use the "Option pack" to remove all not wanted stuff Smile

In the Localization page is written:

4 Copy your local Firefox files to that same directory (you can usually find them in C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.3\ )

I wonder that "Firefox" has to be replaced with "OpenOffice" Wink

... for this release.
There are some needed minor changes for the German release:

The last German releases was delivered without non german dics on openoffice/share/dict/ooo to save more than 60 MB space and make the installer smaller.

In the German Installer/Launcher the strings for the exe (Copyright etc.) and the readme.txt file were also translated into German too.

The Splashscreen shows PortableApps.com/OpenOfficePortable as homepage the appinfo.ini shows PortableApps.com/OpenOfficePortableDE

The last two points makes sense to me. All Installers/Lauchers should use the same description strings. There is now a link to the German
homepage on PortableApps.com/OpenOfficePortable so we don't need the OpenOfficePortableDE alias and have the same starting point for all versions (But we should use it the in the appinfo.ini too).

If You'll agree I'll upload a minor update
(modified readme.txt, appinfo.ini and dict/ooo folder)
to the SF project TEST-PRERELEASE folder, so You could sign the installer an move it to the right place.

As promised I'll create an "Option Pack" for this new release as a Development release. This pack will be able to remove/add
*python
*additional dics
*additional images
*help files

I believe this is a good compromise, solid installers without options for all users and an option pack for anvanced users for a secure way to modify the default installation packs of OOo Portable.

The News page will be available in German too soon.

Kind regards
Marko

Thanks for the offer, Marko, but I don't think it's necessary. If you check out the German release, you'll see that the help.html and appinfo.ini are already localized into German. All dictionaries are included in all releases at the moment (but we'll make it an option later, I think). And all releases will now be using the standard splash (I, unfortunately, haven't gotten the site's localization bits quite done yet... but each page will support localization directly).

The strings within the launcher will not be translated going forward as, for most software including OpenOffice.org, they're simply left in English.

The only thing technically missing is the readme.txt in the Source directory which 99.9% of people will never see.

I think doing a new revision just for a minor readme file isn't necessary.

... in the last hours I came to the same result :-).

What do you think about the option pack for advanced users?

or something to remove the unwanted stuff.
You could have one that only removes the unwanted stuff so it would be really small. Or have one that can remove it and add it back...but i like the idea better having one that is "remove only".

The remove only version is easy to make and will be ready for testing on Monday.

for OpenOffice.org Portable Rev . 2.3.1.1 (You have to install:
https://portableapps.com/node/10576 first.

You'll find the Optionpack later in a separate post.

Please don't use this release with Your 'one and only' OOoP installation or backup Your installation first.

(Sourcecode is not included in the package at the moment and will come with a final version. Optionpack works with all published versions. In order to get a quick solution I have used and modified the installer of https://portableapps.com/node/105769)

Marko, could you post this in Beta Testing rather than linking directly here? I want to make sure it's clear that this is a test thing rather than a stable release. And be sure the source is in the package. We can't release stuff on SF without the source included.

MarkoMLM's picture

... I've edited the post (link is removed).
The source code was not included, cause it is not finished yet (like the PA menu source some time ago ...)
Source will be included tomorow (I have to remove some debug code first)

That's cool.

Actually it's not because it wasn't done that the original source was delayed. It's because there was a licensing issue (the images are licensed under creative commons and I had compiled them into the main binary which was GPL... creative commons isn't compatible with the GPL).

... it was no critic to You!!!
It was a fault of mine and I'll fix it soone ok.
Please keep in mind, that I'm not a native english speaker ...
... some words could be another meaning as wanted by me.

John: As I said it again and again I try to do my very best to follow the rules, so please keep cool if I try it ok?

I wasn't trying to make any of that seem harsh. Just clarifying. Either way, I want to make sure we have source posted at the same time as any release on SF as it's only fair to the community.

While you're having this nice little conversation, some of us are waiting for splashes! (And clarification) (And upload to SourceForge) (Hell, I want cake too)
