Thanks for your hard work on this Oliver. And thanks, lamer, for working with us in making PNotes a great fit for PortableApps.com. Smile

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Congratulations Oliver,

Not at work today but will download and try tomorrow.

Tim

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Congratulations!
Oliver, thank you very much for great work!
Thanks to all good people for testing and suggetions!
Special thanks to Patrick for discovering the program!
It was a long way, but we finally did it.
And I hope we will not stop on the current version.

P.S.
Anybody knows how can I change the nick to real name? Smile

Thank you so much for all your hard work on this both Oliver and Andrey. This is a fantastic program, and I'm sure it will be popular.

Thanks to everyone! Lets hope my thumb keeps up Biggrin

I've been looking forward to the official release of this app for a while. Keep up the good work.

Is it safe to kill PNotes Portable from e.g. a script? I.e. does PNotes instantly save any modifications/updates, or on a "clean", explicit, exit only? Thanks!

No, PNotes doesn't instantly save changes. I believe PNotes will prompt you before exiting. You can also save each note individually.

Autosave seems to be what I need to have enabled in order to not loose any notes in the case of an crash, or sending an explicit K.O.D. ("kiss of death") to PNotes (with the calculated risk of only loosing note(s)/change(s) made within the set autosave interval m minutes) - right?

Is PNotes, running in autosave mode, "clever" enough to recognize state changes, or does it repeatedly re-save every m minute(s), even if no modifications have been made since the last save - and thereby wearing, e.g. a portable flash drive, unnecessarily.

Thanks!

it repeatedly re-save every m minute(s),
even if no modifications have been made since the last save

Exactly. It saves temporary files in program data folder, they are removed each time the program starts. It is intented especially for crashes.

Thanks, lamer

Exactly? Exactly what!? Sorry, I didn't get it. Could You please elaborate somewhat on your answer. Does it, or does it NOT re-save the state when NO modifications have been made since the last save? Thank You!

PNotes re-saves state regardless of if any change has been made or not (a quick test showed this), and thus, IMO, is less "portable friendly" than I thought. At least when using it's auto-save feature, which is a pity since that feature is especially important to have in conjunction with a portable device.

Okay, downloaded and installed.

All is Clear and Clean Wink

All seems to be great.
The PA theme is interesting and I will use it,
but I miss the Ancient/Parchment one Sad

I redid that one. I think its on my webpage, on the PNotes goodie page. It might be messed up though.

Another app that becomes way better once it is portable. PortableApps.com rocks...

I sell fire in hell

Congrats Oliver, great job. Pnotes is an amazing app, thanks so much for it.

I love the app. One thing I've noticed that I'm not sure if it's a PNote problem or a port problem. On my work computer (XP Professional) when I right-click in a stickynote the menu options all have a box at the end. I have a screen shot but don't know how to put it here in the post. I think there must be an extra character on the end of the strings for the menu items.

It's minor, and it doesn't affect the functionality. I just thought I'd mention it. It won't keep me from using it!

Lamer has already fixed this, and the fix will be in the next release.

I am not new to using portable apps, just new in commenting about them. I'll search harder in the forums next time before posting.

already under the "other apps support" forum... Wink
