GIMP Portable 2.4.7 Released

GIMP Portable 2.4.7 has been released. GIMP Portable is the full-featured GIMP image and photo editor bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can edit your photos and images on the go. This new release updates the included GIMP to the latest release, has improved speed when moving PCs, an improved installer and launcher and fixes a bug that caused font cache files to be left behind on some PCs. GIMP Portable Help, GIMP Portable Background Window and GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout are also available. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. Best of all, it's open source and completely free.

GIMP Portable Background Window and Photoshop Layout

Two extras that enhance GIMP Portable are also available: GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout and GIMP Portable Background Window. The Photoshop Layout add-on adjusts GIMP's dock/toolbox to more closely approximate the layout of Adobe Photoshop. The Background Window plugin allows GIMP to occupy a single window. The background plugin does contain known bugs and is unsupported but should still be useful to many users.

GIMP Portable Help 2.4.0

GIMP Portable Help 2.4.0 is also available. It allows you install the complete GIMP help files into GIMP Portable to make use of the context sensitive help or to use the help files when offline.

New in This Release

GIMP has been updated to 2.4.7 (release notes). The configuration has been updated to speed up second launches on new PCs. And two bugs that caused the font cache and gtk file chooser to be left behind on PCs without GIMP installed were fixed.

GIMP Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in.
