Thank you for this. I really like the Beta, but I also loved the Intelligent Startup (works great with TBP!).

Now I have both in one.

The load time is amazingly short!

Thank you,
Timothy

Grab the new release and extract it right over your current one anyway. (You won't lose any data) The new launcher is much faster.

Thanks for the hard work in creating these portable apps. I really like taking my firefox wherever i go. Works great so far.

You scared me there for a second. I was reading about the changes to the new launcher and saw "dropped support for all alternate INI locations." I thought you meant you'd dropped the ability to use custom directories using the INI. Needless to say, I was very relieved when I downloaded the new version and saw custom directories were still supported. Anyway, great job on the new launcher, and I love Firefox 2.0 RC1. The interface is way better than the one in Beta 2. God, what ever gave them the stupid idea that toolbar buttons with no hover bevel were a good idea, I'll never know.

Oh, and what exactly does "Intelligent Start" do, anyway? I can't find any documentation on it, other than that it's supposed to improve loading time.

It tracks the location that your profile was last used from. If it's the same, it won't rewrite the chrome.rdf (if there is one) and calendar extension bits (if used) and it won't force Firefox to rebuild its component registry. The result is greatly increased start time on 2nd (3rd, etc) launch on the same PC and if you happen to move to another PC that gives you the same drive letter.

Excellent! Smile

I change my iPod shuffle to be drive M: on every computer I have administrative privileges with, so this feature will definitely be of benefit to me. As usual, another great release!
