Firefox Portable 2.0 RC 2 Released

Firefox logoMozilla Firefox - Portable Edition 2.0 Release Candidate 2 has been released. Firefox Portable is the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser packaged as a portable app, so you can take your browser, bookmarks and extensions with you on your USB flash drive, iPod, CD or other portable device. This package allows you to test the new Firefox 2.0 RC 2 release alongside your regular Firefox install without impacting your bookmarks, extensions, settings, etc. This new release uses the new faster launcher introduced in the Firefox Portable 1.5.0.7 release. I think it would be nice if the developers would also tweak the update notification to only trigger if there is a portable release.

Can't happen. John would need to rebrand and call it Firefox Community Edition and change all of Firefox's graphics.

When closing firefox, the process firefox.exe does not disappear from the task list.
Observed on a clean profile.

Well, strange thing... I have installed some extensions (the ones I always use) and it is working fine...

I have also had troubles with Firefox portable hanging. It's the ONLY negative comment I can make - great work, John.

It's frusterating. I had not considered the problem to be potentially influenced by extensions, though.

Perhaps someone could (please) comment on this? Thanks!

This is my first time with Firefox 2.0, and I figured this would be a great way to try it out. Would you believe I have it running on a Pentium 55C (150MHz) / Win98! Solid as a ROCK!

I want the .u3p version for my U3 portable device. Can they work on that,or do they already have one v2?
