Firefox logoMozilla Firefox®, Portable Edition version 2.0.0.2 has been released. Firefox Portable is the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can take your browser, bookmarks, settings and extensions on the go. This new release updates the included Firefox to 2.0.0.2. And, it's packaged in PortableApps Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps Suite. A package of Firefox 1.5.0.10 is also available. It is available for immediate download from the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition homepage.

What's the difference between version 2.0.0.1 updated to 2.0.0.2 and this new version? Also, see on the support page it says "Firefox updated to 2.0.0.2 / 1.5.0.10". Why is 1.5 still being used?

Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend.

As is always the case, support questions should be addressed in the forums. Comments on a news topic are not the appropriate place for them (since no one else would be able to find the answers later). Plus, your question is answered right on the page that says the quote you gave. And it's been addressed in the FAQ and several forum posts.

2.0.0.2 is just bug fixes. 1.5 is still being updated with the same fixes for those people who may, for whatever reason, still prefer the 1.5 branch or don't want to/haven't gotten around to upgrading.

Doesn't make much sense to me either. A single stable branch plus an unstable branch is enough for me.

Signature automatically removed for being too awesome.

is it okay for firefox to update from its company??

There are 2 ways of updating Firefox:
1. Wait for Johns new package.
2. Use the auto-update feature built into Firefox

I was user of the PortableApps utilities until I purchased a 2GB U3 drive. I Love the way the U3 software installs and such, but the problem that I have is with Firefox 1.5. The built-in update feature will not update the software to the 2.0 platform, and I am unsure how to update it manually for the U3 edition. Does anyone know when John might be re-packaging Firefox 2.0 platform for the U3? Thanks.

As has been discussed for a while, we may be dropping all support for the proprietary U3 platform:

And, in case you missed it, you can now auto-install apps right into the PortableApps.com Platform with the new menu system. If you want to try it, you can install it alongside U3 to test it out.

Now, for any more support questions, one word: FORUMS. This is a news story and not the right place for support.

I can't install the toolbar on the portable version of firefox. Is there any way that I can?
