Thanks this'll be a useful tool. However I noticed the installer was not signed, while I have the feeling its ok, I thought digitally signing security software was an absolute must..?

Freeware
We don't sign freeware from other folks that we package. Some of our freeware partners who package themselves do sign, some don't. Some of our open source partners (like Task Coach) that package themselves don't sign either.

Ah ok. In the past you were quite determined to have software signed. Maybe you could offer a service for the Open Source partners to sign the installers.

And I *highly* recommend that all publishers sign their work. But not all publishers can.
We won't license out our signature to other publishers (that defeats the purpose of it since we can't verify their code).

Question: The original website http://rootkitanalytics.com/userland/spy-dll-remover.php still lists (and downloads) 2.5.0 as the current version. Where did this 2.5.8 come from?

It's actually the same version as ours, 2.5.8. The version identifier in the build didn't change. We're in direct contact with the publisher and they suggested the 2.5.8 since it is their internal number for the build.
