Could someone make a 256x256

Could someone make a 256x256 icon for this, without resizing one? Either like the current one, or the # sign with the fish in it.

The current one comes from the SharpDevelop.exe which is low quality and only goes up to 48x48.

What about these?

You may have already seen these, but if not...

Will any of these fish ones work for you?

I also found this gear one?

It amazes me that on the internet you can be anything you want, and yet so many people still choose to be idiots.

Sorry, but none are 256x256,

Sorry, but none are 256x256, but these are the type I'm looking for.

I'm trying to avoid re-sizing one.

EDIT: Might just bite the bullet and re-size the non-fish one, as the alternative is someone making one from scratch.

EDIT 2: Tried re-sizing with Office 2010 Picture Manager. Looks like crap.

i think 250x250 is as close

i think 250x250 is as close as you can get if you stick with the default logo. resizing by 6px or simply expanding the canvas shouldn't affect the look of this icon too much.

But that image has white

But that image has white background, not transparent, so it wouldn't make a good icon. I wonder if someone could Photoshop one to 256x256 better than simply resizing, as resizing blindly distorts the images.

Icon Explanations

The only critical icons for the PAF package is the 16, 32 and 48. The 48 will be seen when viewing large icons in the compiled launcher. The 32 will be shown in the header of the installer. And the 16 will be shown in the menu. The only other official size we have is 128 and that's currently only used on the website. The 256 one *might* be used by Windows but only if the user has extra large icons turned on.

So, all that said, here is a 256px version and a 128px version made from the above gear one that was linked, both done as full alpha PNGs. I fixed the odd purple tinges using the color replacer in Photoshop. I'd suggest just using the 128px version as the appicon_128 in your package and only including the 128 in the appicon.ico but not the 256 as it is necessarily smaller than it could be.

Thanks for the icon. I know

Thanks for the icon. I know you don't *need* the larger icons but I wanted to include them anyway. I also wanted to have 256x256 in case we ever have a use for them. I know the Alpha Dev Toolkit recommends having a 128x128.

Keep In Reserve

I'd say keep that 256px version in reserve for later and use the 128px in the ICO file since it better fills the available space.

I haven't worried too much

I haven't worried too much about space, though it may be a bit of a constraint of a 128MB drive (though an IDE would probably be too sluggish on those).

Anyway, I'm still trying to get the 16x16 icon to look OK.

I've been getting 256x256 png images and using converticon.com to make an icon that has all sizes except 512x512 (that would be a scale up and the launcher doesn't seem to accept an icon with an image that big anyway).

This is done in all my PortableApps, released or not, and generally makes a decent icon. Though right now the 16x16 icon shown in the menu still looks messed up. I may try the fish icon, as the gear icon just doesn't seem to scale well. It looks like this:http://imgur.com/ceZJv.

I'm being a little OCD about my icons but I wanted to have the 128x128 so the Dev Kit doesn't bother me, and I wanted to have the 256x256 as I believe Windows can use it. Having them all in the icon file gives me an easy place to get any image size I could need (as opposed to using the default program icon which only goes up to 48x48).

PS: While most 16x16 are going to be a bit distorted, this one just jumps out, and also seems a little smaller.

Wrong Method

Never replace the 16px icons with other stuff, they're specifically designed for that small generally. Use the pre-built one or make a better one. NEVER take a 128 or 256 and reduce it to 16 unless you want it to look awful.

Don't include that 256px in the appicon.ico. It will look worse than the 128px one. By space I meant the empty space around it. It looks bad. Windows will use a 128px icon if there is one as well in the absence of the 256px. Generally no one will ever see it at 256px anyway.

So, again, start with the appicon.ico built off the existing ones and then just add the 128px as a custom size. That's it. That 256px will look worse in actual use than the 128px one will.

I actually went to post a few

I actually went to post a few seconds ago that I decided to plant in the 16 icon from the EXE, then the page said "Access Denied".

The 256x256 is for view with Extra Large Icons. I don't see any extra space for exe. The ico file does but that is just how windows handles them and png, and there is still space with a 128x128.

Visual Space

I'm not talking about space in the EXE, I'm talking about VISUAL space around the edge of the 256px. It's the best I could do, but it is too small. So use the 128px instead and Windows will use that for Extra Large Icons. Extra Large Icons are NOT 256px by default. They're smaller but can be scaled up. No one in their right mind has their icons set at 256px because nothing would fit in each window. The 128px version I created looks better at all sizes except 256px so use that.

256x256 W/ Transparent Background ico

As requested, I sat down in photoshop for about 30+ mins to make this.

Use it if you want, I don't really care. Blum Just thought you might want it.

But yeah, I had to select almost every individual pixel. But I got it done.

icon

Sorry it's a mediafire link, I didn't know anywhere else to upload it haha.

Also, I added transparency to the shadows of the letters to add a more professional air.

If you like it, tell me haha. Smile

I am aware, I just have not

I am aware, I just have not had the time and interest to continue at the moment.

I wouldn't mind if someone took this over, it probably just needs an MSI extract and the files to be put in place.
