XnViewPortable \ Data which settings : xnview.ini OR settings\XnViewPortableSettings.ini ??

XnViewPortable \ Data which settings : xnview.ini OR settings\XnViewPortableSettings.ini ??

Which settings / preferences file does XnViewPortable use:

PortableApps > XnViewPortable > Data > xnview.ini

OR

PortableApps > XnViewPortable > Data > settings > XnViewPortableSettings.ini

??

I only have 1 XnView as a portable app installed on an USB-stick.

After opening for the first time a picture with XnView I see that XnView starts up with another settings file then just starting XnView without opening a picture.

So my question is: I want XnView to use always the same settings file; but how and which?

And where do I find more info about that question?

XnViewPortable.exe

Always start with XnViewPortable.exe. It handles everything for you. Never start xnview.exe directly or associate it with files. You can associate XnViewPortable.exe with files. You shouldn't be manually messing with any of the files. XnViewPortableSettings.ini is for the portable launcher only and should not be touched. xnview.ini lives in Data but is moved to the XnView directory while running and then back when closed.

both are used

Both of those are used for different purposes. xnview.ini is used by Xnview for its settings, and XnViewPortableSettings is used for settings related to the portable package.

RESOLVED: change default for open images in XnViewPortable

ok, thanks.

I resolved my problem by changing the default behaviour for opening images by XnViewPortable.

Now XnViewPortableSettings.ini is always used by XnViewPortable

I have to say also that I use a synchronised copy of the PortableApps in my WinXP User Application Data...

That means that I use the synchronised PortableApps fixed on my portable and my USB-stick with the PortableApps (synchronised) on other computers.
