Firefox, Thunderbird and OpenOffice.org for U3 by PortableApps.com

Installation Error

Submitted by jester1570 on January 4, 2007 - 1:25am

I installed firefox onto my ScanDisk cruzer micro 2gb a couple of days ago. Today I take it to work and instead of loading up like it did yesterday at work, it didn't open and said that the files were corrupted. So I decided to uninstall it and then just redownload it but then when it tries to install, it just says, "Installation of Mozilla Firefox for U3 failed."

Has anyone else had this happen and if so, were you able to fix it and how?

Why U3 when portableapps suite works fine?

Submitted by BenMcLean on January 3, 2007 - 2:56pm

aargh i'm so mad. i bought a 1GB U3 Datatraveler drive made by a company called "Kingston" and it doesn't work in windows 98SE, so now I have to go through another computer to get files from the internet to my laptop. thus, this drive is fulfilling only /some/ of the purposes for which i bought it

why would anyone ever even *want* this U3 thing when the portableapps suite works fine ???

Anyone know?

Hey, I've been trying to make the FireFox 2 portable for a while now, and I keep getting the same error message...

It says that it's "Unable to Open" and wants to know if it can delete the program.

I've been using the U3 Manifest Creator (MUCH EASIER THAN MANUALLY CREATING), and been following the guide on...

http://www.elitenews.org/2006/05/installing-programs-on-u3-smart-drive.html

Anyone got another guide or something that can help me out?

running u3 and portableapps suite together

Submitted by joshad on December 29, 2006 - 10:09pm

is it possible to run both u3 and the portableapps suite off of the same usb drive?

i am a u3 drive owner, and i see the advantages of using the portableapps suite (faster access to updated software, better support community, etc), but i'm not quite sure i want to completely uninstall the u3 software and replace it with the portableapps suite. so...

is it possible to run both u3 and the portableapps suite off of the same usb drive?

thanks.

I made a SNES App, a Gameboy Advance [Supports original Gameboy games as well as the Gameboy Advance games) app, a NES app, a SEGA (Supports the Sega Saturn and Master system) app, a Turbo Graphix 16 app, and a Nintendo 64 app!

Sorry, but It's up to you to find your own ROMs Smile

Anyways, who knows a good file hosting site with free sevice and no damn log-ins? As soon as You tell me I'll begin uploading them!

Enjoy!
