Bookmarks

Submitted by mrrichardlewis on October 2, 2006 - 6:12pm

I have recently downloaded and installed firefox 1.5.0.7 on my sandisk cruzer.

Whenever firefox is running it creates an HTML document of my bookmarks in the profile folder up to 3 times every mintue. I only noticed as my 2Gb fkash drive slowly filled up - with bookmark files!

Anyone have a clue how to stop this.

It also has a habit of deleting my bookmarks once i exit firefox.

Thanks in advance

Richard

FFP for U3 in Safe Mode

I read alot about solving problems with Firefox by starting it in Safe Mode.

e.g.
Run
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

Is there a way to start Firefox for U3 in Safe Mode?

===== 10/05/06 update/bump of question.

I am still hoping someone can answer my question. If the answer is that Firefox for U3 can't be started in safe mode I will accept that. If this is the case perhaps a secondary launcher could be put in the system folder that had this function in a future release of Firefox for U3??

I think this is important because the almost universal first stop for Firefox problems is "start in safe" mode. This is of special importance when Firfox will not start because a bad extenion and it needs to be uninstalled from Firefox.

Is U3 really a portable environment?

Hi all,

I’m kinda new to the whole portable application world… I’d heard about U3 for a while before actually looking into it, with the whole personal workspace idea sounding pretty cool, but it was only after I purchased my U3 drive a couple of months ago, that I actually understood the real potential in this area. The ability to take all my data and files with me, and use it anyplace anytime, is just what I needed.

Being a gadget freak and part-time programmer, I spend a lot of time checking out new applications, buying new hardware, and often taking both apart to little pieces. So, I naturally came around to investigating how my U3 Smart Drive actually functions, and while I’m pretty happy with how U3 is easy and useful, I now find there’s a lot about their technology that just plain doesn’t make sense.

An error has occurred while trying to launch the selected program

I've just purchased a Sansdisk 1G U3 drive and have installed portable Firefox on it. When I use the launcher to start Firefox on my laptop it works like a charm. Ditto for trying to launch other programs like Skpe and OpenOffice. When I tried to use it on my work computer, every program launches except portable Firefox. I get the above error message. I tried reinstalling Firefox. Same error message occurs.

ThunderBird - extremmely slow response when running from U3 drive

Submitted by jirina42 on September 18, 2006 - 5:55am

Hi there,

I'm running ThunderBird from my U3 drive (Sandisk Cruzer Titanium) and it often happens that moving from one message to another or opening an attachment takes seconds - the app looks like frozen... Do anybody have any idea what can be the broblem? Version is (I think) 1.5.0.4 - the one installed via U3.com. Size of the message box on the drive is over 100MB - can this cause the problems? I'm connecting it to USB2 port of course.

Thanks a lot

TP and U3

Submitted by Abe Sternberg on September 13, 2006 - 1:10pm

This has probably been answered before but I did not see anything on it while scanning the forum.

I am interested in switching to TP using a U3 thumbdrive. Currently I am using Thunderbird, the same account, on two systems - one at home and the other at work. The first question is how can I merge the two into one and then bring that to TP on the thumbdrive.

The second question concerns TP itself. Is it the same as normal Thunderbird or has some function been taken out of TP to allow it to fit on a thumbdrive?

Thanks,

Abe Sternberg (a rookie)
