Firefox and Gmail incompatible?

Submitted by ottosykora on October 27, 2014 - 11:46am

When I try to do something on gmail via their website, I am getting a warning at the top that the browser is not compatible.
Lastest version of FF, portable or local.

If I try anyway, all works very slow on the website.

Does that mean if one needs to use gmail for exmaple, the only way to access it is with chrome browser?

A New Windows Deployment Tool by Nuhi

Submitted by Beeber on October 10, 2014 - 11:32pm

For those who have used and enjoyed Nuhi's program nLite, he has recently introduced a new program that modifies/minimizes the newer versions of Windows. I have not downloaded and used it yet, as I am still using my nLited XP. I know that I will have to migrate up eventually. With this new program, NTLite, I might even do it sooner than later.
I neither work for him nor am I his agent. I am a user who has enjoyed and benefited by using his old program, nLite. Just google NTLite, and check it out if you are interested.

Forums thread subscription: Disabling notification about own comments

Submitted by orschiro on August 31, 2014 - 2:24am

Hi there,

I am a frequent user of the email notifications / thread subscriptions to receive an email alert for new comments in my thread subscriptions.

However, I am annoyed by the notifications for my own comments. I do not see any benefits in receiving these.

Is it possible with Drupal Forums to tweak (disable) this behaviour?

Thanks for listening!

Multimedia/Video work w/ PortableApps - advice needed

Submitted by Sean At Work on April 4, 2014 - 7:22am

For those of you who primarily work in multimedia, either professionally or as a hobby, a query like this will be right up your avenue of expertise.

It seems whatever I do, I can't help but gravitate back to PortableApps when it comes to most of my projects, and this is not to criticize PortableApps at all, there are just hundreds more portable applications out there and I personally never limit my options. However, when it comes to working with video I could really use some guidance on what I could potentially do with what's available in the PortableApps suite.

What is your favorite Linux distro?

With Windows XP support coming to an end soon, and the sluggish machine that I have running it, I figured I give a shot at the world of Linux. I also have an Dell laptop that I would like to switch over to Linux. I have fooled around with a few (Ubuntu, DSL, and Mint), but I would like to see what the PortableApps community likes the best. I saw a few related posts, but they were pretty old and technology moves fast, so I figured I'd get an updated poll. Wink

What is your favorite Linux distro?

Would you recommend your favorite for an older machine?

Greetings All

Hi everybody, my name is Sean. I just thought I would formally introduce myself before I start actively posting.

I have been a dedicated user of the PortableApps suite for years and it's thanks to the available software, from Internet Browsers to System Utilities that I have been able to do more than merely keep some of my old machines on what I dub 'life support'. I'm sure years ago it would have been unheard of to have several hundred programs available to use on your computer and still boast a tidy registry.

firefox slow for one user

Submitted by ottosykora on March 4, 2014 - 9:49pm

off topic, as it concerns installed firefox, not the portable one.

On one installation of w7 32bit, I have firefox to load the portableapps.com site (and every other too) in abt 20min and it is still not complete.

IE, Chrome, FFportable all work as expected.
The problem is ***for one user only*** there are other two users on the same machine and the FF behaves normal there.

So far tried:
uninstall firefox
remove all traces of mozilla firefox from this users appdata profile include all cache etc
remove all keys related to mozilla or firefox from this users registry part
