Licence

Submitted by farat_as on November 8, 2013 - 2:50pm

Hi,

I am curious for how we get permission for apps to make them portable? It is enough if any of us send to company of app to ask them if we can make their app portable? If they will answer OK, it would be legally enough?

Thank you

Heya all I'm new to the boards

Submitted by Moonraid on October 23, 2013 - 1:00pm

I'm not sure if people still do introductions when they create accounts but here mine!

I been using the PA.c platform for about 2 years now and I've been thoroughly enjoying it. I use the platform mostly at work since they don't use a unified network account login.

I have been lurking on the boards as a guest to read up on updates and to see whats new. I decided to make one today and I have been recommending co-workers and friends to the site and the platform. So expect a few more users of PA.c in the near future. ^^

Watching videos while screen does not darkens - portable mode?

Submitted by trust on October 23, 2013 - 11:49am

I am not quite sure how it works on Windows but the basic setting is if you don't touch it the screen darkens (on a laptop). So far so good.

What is the case if you watch a video
- With a dedicated player such as VLC?
- A Flash or HTML5 video on the web?

I don't watch that much videos or even if I watch I rewind them all the time to catch some key phrases or the videos are too short anyway to have the time for the screen to darken.

App for PDF printing?

Submitted by trust on September 23, 2013 - 11:06am

I realize it is OFF, since it requires admin rights. What is a good app for PDF printing? I used CutePDF so far but got annoyed by the fact that you have to click through the install process carefully not to install any junk (what is the terminology for that?). Any better option?

I searched the forum but did not find any solution.

What is the best software to have on portable HDD?

Submitted by julo133 on August 20, 2013 - 11:03am

I just bought a portable HDD.
What is the best software to install on it?
My "plan A" is this:
Cut disk into 2 partitions.
On the first partition install some software to help me diagnose and fix my PC when broken (DOS software?)
Maybe some good LINUX compilation bootable from the portable HDD, with no installation required - to help me access my C:/, when i dont have the time to install or fix broken windows - or to help me learn linux when im bored
