Connection trouble!

Submitted by GameMakerFan on April 24, 2013 - 9:42pm

Hey, I've been using Maxthon Portable between my computer, one at school, a friend of mine's and at school, because I have a research project and I want to make sure I don't lose any useful sites I passed by. But only one problem: I can't connect to the net. Then I tried other things, and NONE of my apps can connect to the internet, on any computer! My friend said I can play with his PC's firewall settings, but I can't get anything to work still. And on my own computer, I can't install Firefox Aurora because it says the download was interrupted.

Forum text formatting

I know HTML, which you use for the forum formatting is supposed to be a "world language" and all, but did you consider adding more straightforward forum text formatting options like the general "forum code" used in nearly 99% of the forums on the Internet or maybe Markdown used on the Stack Exchange network?

All in all, who is your target market? Web programmers only or people? Smile

I appreciate you.

Developers and Researchers,

Thank you for giving me a few moments to share these ideas. I am so very excited about the possibilities of a small script or executable that might monitor and collect anonymous data, under restricted conditions, as an opt-in during the platform installer or upgrade process.

So I'm looking to start a new project and I know that you guys are able to point me in the right direction.

I'm looking to take a older desktop, put a OS on it, load a minimal amount of software on it, and stick it in a corner. I would like it to be a file sever for my house. We have 4 computers that need to connect to it at all times. I know that someone out their has done this before but I can't find any how-to(s) or threads to get me started. All it needs to do is hold files and act like a "cloud drive" All I need is a starting point.

Adobe release CS2 Standard for free

For anyone interested, Adobe have just released Creative Suite 2 Standard (and its separate components) for free, available here.

EDIT: Link removed. Adobe screwed up and still haven't rectified their problem (or at least put a notice on the page stating that the CS2 files are only for those who already own a licence to use them), but lets not open ourselves up to the potential illegality involved.

Possible to use Data and Temp folder from RAM

Submitted by farat_as on January 2, 2013 - 1:39pm

Hi,

I have encrypted datas inside archive files (7z and others). I open them with 7zip or Peazip portable. Each file which I open is writing on my file system. That means each file that I open is writing always on the hard-drive. That means, each file can be recover easily.

For this operation only, 7zip or Peazip use temp and Data folder I think. It is possible to make something for a portable app to use just the RAM for one session or something like that?

Thank you

Adding USB 3.0 to my computer.

Submitted by ASJ on December 30, 2012 - 12:54pm

Has anybody had any success adding USB 3.0 to their computer? My computer is a Dell Studio XPS 7100 that I purchased last year (2011). I know you can buy PCI-E to USB3.0 cards that will do the job, and my computer has 2 available PCI-E slots. Also, I'm wanting to bring the ports up front where there is an empty 3.5" bay.

Any suggestions? This would be a nice compliment to all the new USB 3.0 devices coming out, not to mention the PortableApps.com Companion that I have.
