Yet another USB request thread

Submitted by qwerty017 on November 29, 2011 - 11:43am

I am currently using a Lacie Iamakey 8gb and absolutely love it except for the write speeds. I asked Lacie if any of their drives were dual channel and the only one was the Xtremekey which is waaaaay too big. What is the thinnest, fastest, and currently available drive? I found some while doing a simple google search but most dual channel drives seem to be massive when what I am looking for is something like the iamakey, thin and fits on a key ring. Any help would be appreciated.

Red header looks bolder. Duller, but it jumps off the page more. Oh, and the little white line at the top is gone.

Actually doesn't look good as my browser toolbars are sky blue, but if I F11 into fullscreen it looks good. (But I don't like red to start with, so take that with a grain of salt.)

7-zip Replacement Icons (Archive/Compression)

Submitted by TheCodeIsClear on October 30, 2011 - 11:45pm

I have created a set of 7-zip replacement icons. It is my first attempt at creating icons, so the icons render poorly at smaller sizes (16x16 or 24x24). I will work on fixing this in later releases

Download 7-zip replacement icons

Would love to hear your feedback. I wish I could create the .dll, but I haven't worked with ResourceHacker (or similar software) before. If any of you wishes to give it a shot, I would be glad to add that to my set (with attribution, of course)

Top 30 Portable App? We can make a better list.

Submitted by jackofalltrades on October 7, 2011 - 5:29pm

Browsing reddit earlier today I came across this article that claims to list the top 30 portable apps: http://www.talesofinterest.net/best_programs_for_usb/

While I agree with some of these and use them myself, I was thinking that this list was missing some essentials (VLC, anyone??). So I thought I would come to the source and ask you guys, if you could have 30 apps on your flash drive, which would they be and why?

Free USB Guard

Probably a jillion of these things around, if not: http://freesoftwareproject.weebly.com/free-usb-guard.html Free USB Guard will alert you in case a flash drive (or another external drive) is attached during the shutdown process! It's portable, zip file, not the paf portable, but maybe something to look at. IDK anything about this, found it posted at LifeHacker.com.
