Going to buy a new usb-stick

Submitted by snelhest on June 3, 2006 - 7:22pm

I have used a 60gb USB2.0 hdd the last months, but since its to big to carry around so im going to buy a usb-stick, Before i used the HDD i used my Sandisk cruzer micro 256mb which was REALLY slow, it took like 20seconds to launch firefox and gaim would lag...
So what im looking for is a small and really fast usb-stick, price and size arent that important (1-2gb is enough) any suggestions are welcome Smile

What's the best registry clean and uninstall program you think?

Submitted by cch on May 11, 2006 - 10:30am

I am looking for registry-clean and uninstall program to save my friend's computer, because his computer is seriously...have every kind of things inside, virus, malware of course, and some only-god-knows softwares. I will reinstall xp for my computer for sure, but he is a computer idiot so I have to keep his system.

Can you give me some suggestions? Thanks.

Is there a trail left on the host PC

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on May 3, 2006 - 10:37am

If I went to a cyber cafe and plugged in my drive, opened my email, surf the net etc... Are there any tracks left on that PC? Or if for some strange reason, my work PC got caught up in court case and was removed as discoverable evidence and a forensic expert got hold of it. How much information would be available pertaining to any portable software I am using.

Jeff

Now I sound like I am doing something wrong, but then again, by most company standards any surfing or personal email is wrong so there you go.

batch Question

Submitted by Ashes for Tears on April 30, 2006 - 7:22pm

Hey guys, gots a question for ya. How can I call something in a batch file, wait till it terminates, then execute another command? I've been trying to patch together bits and peices that I've found on the forums, but I think I screwed up something in the syntax, so I scrapped the whole thing. (For me, the 'help' in the command prompt was a little obscure...;)) I've been trying to make a batch that will call PortableOO.o, then delete the OO.o directory in %APPDATA% when it terminates, playing around with 'RD', 'DEL', '/WAIT' (?), and whatnot. Any suggestions?

Drive Testing and Diagnostics?

Submitted by Jacoby on April 24, 2006 - 10:41am

Can anyone reccommend a good (FREE) all-around drive testing and diagnostics utility(ies) for USB Hard-drives? I want to benchmark and compare my 4 USB Drives and see which is best. I have four. (eek, I know). I would just like to compare their performance and their specs. I built 2 of them (kits) and bought 2 pre-built (WD and Maxtor). Thanks.

ok Hi there people, first i would like to say this has been awesome to find.
now my problem is at work i am behind a good firewall i am guessing.
so far the only way i can access my home linux server is thru ftp port 21 with filezilla. thats the only thing that gets thru.

i have tried the following with no success.

remote desktop(windows)
vnc(both)
webmin.
ssh
telnet with putty

and ftp with ssh doesnt work either
so far the only things i can do are my web page and ftp.
now i am able to get thru with normal ftp but i dont like it becuase of security issues.

does anyone know of a way to get command line access so i can upload and download.
