Since the release of Windows Vista, there have been a number of inquiries about whether the PortableApps.com Suite and the rest of the apps published here run on Vista or not. PortableApps.com is proud to announce that, yes, everything here works on Vista. The PortableApps.com Suite 1.0 has worked on Vista since the day it was released in November 2006. Since that time, all the apps that are not bundled with the Suite have also been updated to work correctly with Vista. The entire platform will run under admin, limited or guest accounts. The platform and most apps will even run on Windows 95/98/Me and even under Wine within Linux/UNIX. I'm not sure this statement to be accurate. I have recently installed windows vista x64, and whenever I am using my portable apps (usually firefox)...it causes vista to crash without warning and without error messages.
I had disabled all of my programs but my firewall to confirm this statement. Has anyone else had the same issue?

Is a brand new Laptop I bought in The Netherlands in November... it is an Acer Aspire 9300, AMD64 Athlon X2 with 2 Gb RAM, and 80 Gb HD, Windows Vista Home Premium and NVidia GeForce Go 6100... I'm just waiting for the end of the warranty to remove Vista and install XP and Kubuntu in double boot...

Portable apps themselves can't cause Vista to crash. This is nearly always a result of a bad driver... usually a video driver. I think you'll find that if you run a local copy of Firefox, the same will occur.
Vista is set, by default, not to blue screen. Just to do a mini core dump and automatically reboot. Which is why you see no error.
Mandriva Linux
This collection of apps has got to be the greatest thing since imported beer!! I have verified that the applications will run just fine within the "Mandriva Linux" distro when run from the WINE application located therein. The USB drive is transported between several locations and used within a number of operating systems. Mail is sent and received using "Thunderbird" within Linux with no issues and is rock solid. Address book, etc were imported without issue. All attached apps functioned without issue. Even the "Portable Apps" panel worked just as it does within Windows. Great job and keep up the good work!!!

Running Vista Business 32Bit with the majority of the applications available and have had no issues at all.
