GIMP Portable 2.6.11 Rev 3 has been released. GIMP Portable is the full-featured GIMP image and photo editor bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can edit your photos and images on the go. This new release updates the included GIMP to the latest release and has an improved launcher and installer. GIMP Portable Background Window and GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout are also available. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. Best of all, it's open source and completely free.
Revision 3: Revision 3 fixes an issue where opening and saving files would fail if the local version of GIMP was not installed. We apologize for the inconvenience.
PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 5 users who already have this app installed, simply click 'Check for Updates' in your PA.c Menu to update to the latest version.
Features
The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc. Learn more about the GIMP...
GIMP Portable Background Window 2.1.3 and Photoshop Layout
Two extras that enhance GIMP Portable are also available: GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout and GIMP Portable Background Window. The Photoshop Layout add-on adjusts GIMP's dock/toolbox to more closely approximate the layout of Adobe Photoshop. The Background Window plugin allows GIMP to occupy a single window. The background plugin does contain known bugs and is unsupported but should still be useful to many users.
New in This Release
GIMP has been updated to 2.6.11 (release notes). The launcher and installer have also been updated to improve portablity including proper cleanup of additional files and better brush support. Please note that GIMP no longer supports Windows 2000.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
GIMP Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It's packaged in the PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Should be fixed
Are you sure you're using revision 3? It should be fixed now.
i guess yes, but dunno
i'm using the version, the portableapps frontend updates to.
info of gimp says 2.6.11, the quick info in explorer tells me 1.6.8.0.
so...
Maybe something went wrong
Maybe something went wrong with the upgrade? When hovering your mouse over the "GIMP Portable" entry in your PA Menu, it should display "GIMP Portable 2.6.11 Rev 3".
fixed
i d/loaded the rev 3 and installed it manually, now it works.
so the portableapp updater failed somehow.
thanks to everybody for the help!
PA.c Launcher
I think that's the version of the PortableApps launcher, nothing to do with Gimp.
Gimp portable + Raw
Would it be possible to include UFRaw (or some other Raw converter) in Gimp Portable?
You can add plug-ins to GIMP yourself
In general, adding plug-ins to GIMP will not change its portability.
However, if this plug-in is not normally distributed as a part of the official GIMP release, the PortableApps team will not add it into the PortableApps Release.
I don't know what happens to plug-ins you already installed when you upgrade GIMP Portable. It's a good idea if you have installed additional plug-ins, to keep a copy of the plug-in files in a backup folder that is in the root of your drive or on another drive.
Here's the UFRAW plug-in at the GIMP Plug-in registry:

GIMP Portable update overwrites
UFRAW gets overwritten when applying a GIMP portable update. At least that as been my experience. Installing UFRAW into GIMP portable is not a straight forward task like it is with the regular GIMP. I usually copy the UFRAW files from an installed version of GIMP to the portable version. A suggestion would for someone to create a version of UFRAW that would install correctly into GIMP portable.
Thanks,
Clair
