After the download process starts pretty well, it suddenly stops and states:

The downloaded copy of Skype is not valid and can not be installed. Please try installing again.

Followed by

The installer was unable to download Skype. The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. Please try installing again. (ERROR: OK)

Tried in multiple computers and tried downloading twice.

at work yesterday, the error messages were the same as yours. Last night on my home network it worked well, though with the repeated install attempts, I had to delete the folder and install it new..

Some admins have messengers blocked and, at least in my case, I believe that was the problem for me. They have a pretty strict policy to protect the system.
