LibreOffice Portable (complete office suite) Released

Haller on February 9, 2013 - 6:55pm and The Document Foundation are proud to announce the release of LibreOffice Portable LibreOffice Portable is a full-featured office suite -- including a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing package and database -- packaged as a portable app, so you can take all your documents and office suite wherever you go. This release updates fixes an issue with LibreOffice Portable not starting on PCs lacking Visual C runtimes. And it installs in as little as 225MB. LibreOffice Portable is packaged in Format so it can easily integrate with the Platform. And it's open source and completely free.

Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the Platform. Existing users with LibreOffice Portable 4.0.0 will receive a 1MB quick-install patch.

Advanced users who would like to patch their copy of LibreOffice Portable 4.0.0 to without using the platform, download the 1MB patch file and install it to your existing LibreOffice Portable directory just as if you were upgrading the app.

Platform users automatically get this file when checking for updates as always.

John, does the platform update/install provide a way to remove the extra language packs yet or is that still only available via a manual install? I'd love to be able to use the platform to keep this updated but only if I can keep those extra languages removed! I haven't gotten around to updating from 3.6.5 yet because of that. Thanks...

It is manual install only. It still takes longer to install and only saves 110MB in one of the standard languages (English, French, etc) so it doesn't make much of a difference size or speed wise these days.

That 110 MB represents about 1/3 of the app's size! For me, it's worth trimming out. Guess I'll just keep going the manual update route then.
