Fixed, thanks. Sorry about that.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

What makes you so certain it is dead? / How old must regular Application and/or Plugin Updates be before you can say It's "dead. No application or plugin updates"?

As far as I can tell there've been at least one Miranda IM Updates just about every month (November 2012 & January 2013 being the exceptions) with a few months even getting two, since as far back as June 10 2009, and as recent as April 3 2013.
Also I see the same frequency of Plugin updates having started August 25 2010
(Also continuing to date.)

From my understanding of it, the folks who split and did Miranda NG were frustrated with the lack of overall progress towards larger goals, not regular minor updates. Miranda IM is a project that proceeds slower and has less central control. Miranda NG brought everything in house. They took all the most popular plugins and added them to the source tree so they are all worked on together. This provided a few advantages.

First, it allowed them to go full Unicode (Miranda IM is not) so that all the translation files can be fully Unicode, supporting more languages. Second, it allowed them to update the plugin infrastructure so that plugins can be loaded and unloaded at runtime. This requires updating plugins at the same time as Miranda itself, but since the plugins are all a part of the same source tree now, it's relatively easy.

With Miranda IM, the plugins are all built by separate teams, so they're more static in the way they are called. The advantage is that a plugin can work with more than one version of Miranda IM. The disadvanatage is that they can't be loaded or unloaded while the app is running. Miranda NG takes advantage of this by only loading plugins as they are needed, reducing footprint and startup time. They also bundled in a plugin updater that can update plugins while the app is running.

Essentially, both projects will continue. Miranda NG will see faster introduction of new features (Unicode, live plugin load/unload, beta Skype plugin, etc), but Miranda IM won't be going anywhere. We will continue to make both available to our userbase so everyone has a choice.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

You should at last change Miranda IM page and add info that project is abandoned now and the new version of Miranda IM is in fact Miranda NG.

I mean it's dead as an application with plugins can be:

- there isn't even single developer currently working on Miranda IM core, Miranda IM protocols and Miranda IM plugins.
- essentials plugins like Facebook RM droped support for miranda im
- forum is dead

What you posted is totally meaningless. Miranda IM updates are pointless and meaningless. No serious bugs fixed and no new features. It's a pity but that is the reality.

Today i'm update Miranda NG from latest dev.test to release version and my Miranda's profile is missing. How to fix it?

We didn't release an official dev test of Miranda NG to my knowledge.

What is this?

You can prevent to lose your profile if you copy it before and then recopy it Wink

Edit:
I've found out that official MirandaNG creates a folder "profiles" but the Dev uses the folder "profile" . Maybe you only have to rename your folder. I hope that will help you. It worked for me.

Very thx, it's working.
I see, main path to application changed too, app/mng to app/mirandang.
