A new version of OpenJDK Portable Legacy 17 has been released by PortableApps.com. OpenJDK Portable allows you to carry a full-featured Java® Development Kit (JDK) on your PortableApps.com-enabled device all without any Java runtime on the local PC. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format for easy use from any portable device and integration with the PortableApps.com Platform. It's open source for personal and business use.

Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the PortableApps.com Platform.

Features

OpenJDK Portable allows you to easily add a JDK environment to your portable device. It can work with apps in PortableApps.com Format that utilize the JDK. No Java® runtime environment needs to be installed on the local machine and no admin rights are required. JARs can be run using our jPortable Launcher.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

OpenJDK Portable is packaged as a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.

The OpenJDK and OpenJDK JRE are now split into current and legacy versions. The Legacy 17 packages install to the OpenJDK and OpenJDKJRE directories. The current LTS packages (21 at present) install to the installpenJDK64 and OpenJDKJRE64 directories. The current version is 64-bit only as 32-bit support ended with OpenJDK 19 non-LTS. The legacy version is 32-bit only and is what is used by apps like LibreOffice.
