Not sure if this is the right category to post into, but I have done some homework on this issue....help! ok.
I need a bootable menu for a usb device holding all bootable[only] applications, like OSs et al.
Please advise of ~ easiest solution to this. I have problems with command lines and using cmd lines trying to set this up. Looked at Grub4dos, but, still no better.
hopefully, Thanks

Howdy. Google Chrome Portable got mentioned by Technibble today as a repair tool: http://www.technibble.com/google-chrome-portable-internet-browser/
Technibble basically caters to computer repair technicians, so this mention is worth something
Keep up the good work guys.
Hello, I'm learning game programming at school, and I want to use my USB drive to store my work etc.
I wanted to know that if for example the portable putty or portable notepad++ do less memory access than the original programs, so it doesn't make unnecessary memory access when using the executable, launching it directly when it's on the USB drive...
PortableApps provide a great service for those who use computers that are locked down so that preferential software cannot be installed. Often times the reason for this is that the owners of the computers do not want inexperienced users (or even sometimes, experienced users) to install questionable software that may contain a virus. This is a security measure. PortableApps provides a work around to this, as it allows other, sometimes better software to be used.

Will FreeOTFEPortable be listed on PortableApps.com? I thought it was at one point but doesn't seem to be any longer. Is there a policy that determines an app's listing based on whether the portabilization is done in-house or not?
Just curious. I think FreeOTFE is a good tool and would be nice to have listed. I use it but if that is contra to PA.c policy then sobeit.
hello i just signed up on this site and was interested in knowing if i used firefox with my own bookmarks, gimp, openoffice, amsn, vlc player or any other program from portableapps to surf the net and view my media on my friends computer, will i leave any traces behind on his computer?
I use portable apps whenever possible. It allows me to re-install my OS without affecting the application and data, and copy the app/settings to a different machine easily, and to preserve windows in a clean state as much as possible.
As such, I am not actually using it on a USB stick.
I am wondering if it's possible to re-direct the Data folder under each application to a different location? I am not talking about junctions, I am talking about having the app look for the Data folder elsewhere.
The main advantages would be to keep the applications its data separate.
I've been using the Portableapps.com products for years and just updated to the 2.0 beta 5 version of the platform. Other than a minor install glitch (McAfee didn't like the installer's filename) it's worked great so far. I've gotten enough use out of the products over the years that I wanted to donate some cash. However my searching of the web site and fora have not uncovered the expected PayPal link. The latest status update indicated significant corporate support was in the offing which is great. Is PortableApps.com is still accepting donations from users?
