Portable hard drives and Portable apps?

Submitted by urban1 on September 29, 2008 - 11:29am

This may be a silly question, but I appear to be able to use all the portable apps on a thumb drive (usb stick) just fine, but I recently got a little (lol, my first hard drive was a huge 10 mb) 60gb usb hard drive. I am especially not able to run Firefox from that drive. Most of the other apps work although I have not done an extensive test (I downloaded Suite Standard). Firefox seems to fail trying to write back to the drive and immediately shuts down. Is this something inherent in Firefox, something peculiar to Portable Apps or something strange on my end.

just wondering if there are any programs than can create a auto-run CD/DVD menu in PA.

I was thinking of creating something like the free computer magazine dvds have. i would prefer not to use a web browser for this but not against it.

I liked PortableApps.com so much that I decided to spread the word and write about them.

I have also placed some of my favourite portable apps, along with some tips and troubleshooting.

I would be grateful to receive any feedback on it too.
Among the troubleshooting was things I did to get Windows Vista autorunning content again after VMWare disabled it.
