Portable App Development

Hello everyone.

I've recently started working with the "PortableApps.com Launcher 2.0".

I have an issue I can't get around:

Briefly :

I need a way of accounting for a changing data directory location, that cannot be accounted for using environment variables(of windows or the launcher's internal vars). I could solve the problem if [FileWriteN] allowed for wild-cards(*,?) - or it was possible to define custom variables.

After carefully followin the "guerilla guide" posted by oliver specifically the registry changes section, i created a launcher for orbit downloader.. Now when run the launcher it goes back to the default settings..I created almost 26 keys under [RegistryValue] specifically for HKCU.. The app stores some .xml & .dat files in %APPDATA% folder..

I'm using 2.0 beta 5 pre 2.

I was updating Apps, but the firewall blocked the download of additional parts (Skype, ...)

The update didn't succeed for these Apps, but at the end the message said it was successful.

Later on the Update functionality showed no need for updates although Skype was not usable any more.

Guys i'm just learning how to make a portable app wit PortableApps.comDeveloper'sKit..

i used regshot to take an initial snapshot and after installing the required software i took the 2Nd shot and saw the changes in .html format.. Now i dont know wat to do.. There are some registry changes and some changes @ file level like creating folders in %APPDATA% and other folders..

Good day to all. again i'm for some question for me to improve in making portableapps. my question is this. How would I put a check box installer's finish page saying "Start AppPortable" and when the user clicks finish it would automatically start the installed app. thank you.

I'm a 17 year old Kid 4m India namely Chennai!!!

After so many months i've managed to make my own portable app[Opera 10.63] using the PortableApps.com Launcher Docs and PortableApps.com Developer's Kit..

But the problem is that i dont know how to make a splash image!!

Pls help me out Guys!!!

Is there any way to block portable applications from internet?
I think it has to be something like a portable firewall?

VS 2010 can make really elaborate apps with dockable windows, user-definable toolbars, etc. However, all application view details (per user or otherwise) are saved to the registry.

Has anybody tackled a quick and easy launcher setup to portable-ize App Wizard generated apps?

Due to lines 211-212 of PokerTHPortable.nsi (PokerTH Portable 0.8.1), the lines 219-282 are redundant and could be deleted (maybe more). If you don't think so, then there is a bug, because Avatar 7-9 won't be adjusted.

Automatic language switching doesn't work for czech. Either blame the PokerTH devs for using cz as locale code or add a few extra lines to the launcher (like CheckForPortuguese).

The runtime switch "XPStyle on" is missing, don't know if necessary.

On upgrade not all *.dll files from previous version(s) will be removed.

I'm trying to finish the last of my work with Portable Passwords, and the code is all compiling nicely, but the darn thing keeps failing on the linking stage with the error "Undefined reference to 'SQLite::SQLite(wchar_t const*, int, wchar_t const*)'". I did some research and found that "Undefined reference" usually means the referenced library hasn't been linked, so I compiled the SQLite code as a static library and linked the resulting libSQLite.a file in Portable Passwords. I also included the directory the SQLite library is in as a linker search path, but still no joy.
