GIMP Portable 2.6.5 has been released. GIMP Portable is the full-featured GIMP image and photo editor bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can edit your photos and images on the go. GIMP Portable Background Window 2.1.3 and Photoshop Layout
Two extras that enhance GIMP Portable are also available: GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout and GIMP Portable Background Window. The Photoshop Layout add-on adjusts GIMP's dock/toolbox to more closely approximate the layout of Adobe Photoshop. The Background Window plugin allows GIMP to occupy a single window. The background plugin does contain known bugs and is unsupported but should still be useful to many users.
GIMP Portable Help 2.4.0
GIMP Portable Help 2.4.0 is also available. It allows you install the complete GIMP help files into GIMP Portable to make use of the context sensitive help or to use the help files when offline.

i have installed the Portable background window. it still runs as a separate window i thought it would be more like a main window with all the other windows in it. not separate from it.
any ideas how to modify it
single/seperate windows
I've only ever seen The Gimp come with separate windows, and the little I've used it, has been like that. I don't remember seeing anything about single-window gimps before.
