I wish BonkEnc had normalization. I know the developer says it'll be possible in future versions (assuming somebody writes a plugin) but I'd like to be able to replace AudioGrabber if possible. Although AG is portable, I'd love to be able to switch over all of my portable apps to PA.c

Otherwise, this is a great app so thanks for putting it together. Here's hoping! Smile

This is a great tool that I use at least once a week and it's quite convenient to have it on my USB drive, so I can do my conversion even on a places where I have no admin rights to install this SW. Great work guys and a big thanks!

Hi,

I upgraded, and since the upgrade I can't encode mp3's anymore. I downloaded the normal bonkenc from their homepage, and that works.
extracted the portable to a new location, still no mp3...

anyone got a clue as to what's going on? Even when I manually dl'ed and added the latest lame_enc.dll, it still wouldn't work...

cheers

UPDATE:
I saw the post at https://portableapps.com/node/21994, but is there a reason to it? why include it in the portable release from bonkenc itself but exclude it from portableapps?
If I replace the files in \App\BonkEnc with the bin dl from the bonkenc website, MP3 is enabled again...

The MP3 encoder is illegal in the US and other countries unless you've paid for a license. BonkEnc development is not based in the US. PortableApps.com development is. Thus, the MP3 encoder is downloadable as a separate plugin for BonkEnc Portable for users in countries where it is legal or who have a license. The plugin is downloadable directly from the BonkEnc Portable homepage, there is no need to have to replace any files or download from the BonkEnc folks directly.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

So if we use BonkEnc with said in encoder in the US we are in fact using the software illegally? Shock

so pretty much my entire MP3 collection is probably illegal then since I've been using Lame for God knows how many years!

I'd better go turn myself in to the authorities right now. Sad
