I don't know if it is just me but most of - if not ALL versions of firefox portable I experience an INTENSE, ALMOST ANNOYING consumption of my flash drive resource. It gets very close to IRRITATING, because for each page I open up on my browser, it starts reading something in the flash drive....and it keeps reading...and the browser stops responding...and its still reading...and then it finishes loading the page. I repeat, EVERY pages I open up, from PHP-based-forums to emails from google, Y! and hotmail I get this. And the worst thing is, I'm starting to get used to it.

GChrome, on the other hand, just goes smoothly and I think it's safe to say that it just works without glitches and throwing my patience away. I'm a good fan of firefox but come on...I wish somebody tells me why firefox is so much flashdrive consuming.

why don't you just go to options-privacy and check the box "clear history when firefox closes", then it doesn't leave a trace and disk usage ie cookies, history, cache etc and it wipes it from your portable drive. also you can tell it what to clear by clicking the settings button beside the box.

Thanks for the tip! Wipe all my history worked but it was stiiiiiiil running slow so I decided to get rid of everything that could possibly be hanging this guy. So I turned off user studies, disconnected from my Sync account and set FF4b7 to leave no traces of my currently visited webites. It worked out. I mean...SO FAR it has not stopped responding is loading each webpage like a speeding bullet - it's pretty much the same level as chrome but..it's Firefox Wink - and my USB stick is not being read every second like it was supposed to be if all that settings were turned on.

Once again, thank you for sharing some ideas. I hope ppl dealing with these same issues just do what I just did and see if it works for them as well.
