logoWorkrave Portable 1.9.3 has been released. Workrave is a program that assists in the recovery and prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The program frequently alerts you to take micro-pauses, rest breaks and restricts you to your daily limit. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.

Rev 3 Update: We decided to push a small update to enable language switching and full path portability. It's not necessary to update if you already have the original release and don't need these additional features. The original Rev 2 had an issue with language switching and should not be used.

PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 5 users who already have this app installed, simply click 'Check for Updates' in your PA.c Menu to update to the new version.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Workrave Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Thanks for your work on this Kenny. I updated your launcher.ini to handle some additional registry keys.

I wanted to see if I could get language switching working before this got out, but cool.

According to the FAQ, it gets the language of the OS. Any ideas how to get that working?

I'd wager it stores it as blank and then auto-selects each time., You can also manually set it in settings, at which point it'll just stay set to that. It's stored in the registry (.reg file)

Interesting. Don't know how I missed that. I'll likely have an update tonight or tomorrow.

I think this may be useful for me, but where did the "77MB Installed" come from ?

Sometimes making love is just not enough, you have to step it up!

We're required to use a program like this at work. Everyone just turns it off once it runs at startup though. Even the IT guy who sets up new employees tells them they can turn it off.

I wrote a batch file to run at startup to wait for it to start and kill the process. Hooray for laziness.

Signature automatically removed for being too awesome.

I'm reporting you to HR!

Errr, thanks for this program. It's actually a very novel but excellent idea. I know that I spend way too much time in front of the computer (and that's without counting work!) Biggrin

Thanks Dev Team.

Kenny pushed me a small revision to enable path portability and language switching. I made some minor updates to better handle the .reg file and keep it categorized as a Utility.

Your updates break the [LanguageFile] section due to the double quotes.

(So when the PA.c menu is not used, the language will always be forced back to English.)

I should have gone with my first instinct and had you do a pre-release and then made my changes and publicly tested that, too. Revs the same day are always a bad idea. Your original Rev2 changes had the same issue (at least on my Win7 box) and my fix was an attempt to fix that.

So, want me to do rev 3 as a pre-release first? I've tested what I had myself, there was a method to my madness (that and I tried it your way before and Chris told me to do it this way >.>), but we can do that if you want.

Your original copy resets to English every time on my machine as well. My fixes were an attempt to fix that issue. I failed as well. ConfigRead + .reg file usually ends in pain. This might be easier if you pop on IRC

Are you sure? I just tested it again and it works for me the way it should.

Downloaded a fresh copy from your server, installed, ran, switched to French, closed, restarted, came up in English. Every time. Could be because I'm on Win7. Like I said, ConfigRead + .reg file = pain.

I'm gonna dump lang switching and push it out as Rev 3 and not touch it again until there's a bigger update.

The proper update has been made in revision 3. If you don't need language switching, you're find with the original release. Revision 2 had a bug that cause it to be stuck on English without the platform. Revision 3 works as designed. We apologize for any inconvenience.
