PChatPortable 1.5 is not keep settings. Sad

I deleted data folder just encase there was a glitch with and there was no changes, I also made a new manual install to see if something ells was wrong and also the same problem.

I finally had to revert to PChatPortable 1.4 and it works like a charm! Smile

I decided to install the non-portable version for the time being so that my settings get reloaded at startup.

Willing to help / test / debug the issue for the portable version.

ruh roh ... most settings are not remembered. Nicknames, channel switch choice, etc. are lost on Exit. Curiously, network edits are remembered.

There is certainly a gross difference in the number of files installed - PChat 1.4 had far more DLLs ... and a license.txt ... than PChat 1.5

Oh, also today was my third try to install with PortableApps Updater in as many days ... it finally worked. The prior two attempts at upgrading to PChat 1.5 resulted in a "downloaded file corrupt. Unable to install update" error message.

Hope y'all can figger this out and correct it. I do like PChat very much.

Ah ha! I see on pchat-irc.net that there was perfectly good reason for the apparent lack of DLLs, compared to PChat 1.4. Thanks for spelling out the details of the release in the blog.

But, alas, I'll just patiently await an update to fix the settings-forgetting

I'll have a quick looksie in the code, but in all my testing both production machines, virtual environments etc worked with clean configs and saved them, could be something small I introduced unknowingly that affected saving... I guess I'll have to post pone revision 1 for now until I dig a little deeper into it.

But this version, just like the prior, does not recognize most of the settings I have in PChat 1.4

I have no idea why my system doesn't work like your test machines Mr. Thibeau, but I am going to revert back to PChat 1.4 again.

I run XP Pro and run Portable Apps almost exclusively, including OpenOffice, and Mozilla products. I have protections that include Avira, Norton and SpyBot. I avoid changes like the plague ... and it's my same system that worked with PChat 1.4 that does not work well with PChat 1.5 (dot one or dot two).

I'll keep hanging in there as long as I can - bets of luck with all your endeavours.

I'm having a weird issue with 1.5 where I cannot copy and paste hyperlinks from IRC into any web browser. The text is clearly in my buffer, I can copy/paste it to anywhere else, but if I try to paste the URL into any browser (I've tried Chrome, Firefox and IE) I get nothing. This problem happens whether I do text selection or right click -> copy URL. This issue was not present in 1.4.

Another question: Is there a way to modify the right click -> Open URL in Browser behavior? I am using Chrome portable, and when I use Open URL in Browser, it opens a new Chrome window instead of sending the URL to a new tab in the current window which is what I want. Is there a way I can change this?

Thank you for your continued hard work!
