Some users when upgrading may find the file quality (and size) shoots way up. Just open Video Options and click OK to ensure the setting is what you expect.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

The default recording directory is a user-specified directory: C:\Documents and Settings\John\Desktop\CamStudioPortable\Data\Recordings. I tried changing this to a relative path, but it did not work: ..\..\Data\Recordings (I did this by editing the CamStudio.ini file). If this setting is not changed, the video is automatically saved in this directory: CamStudioPortable\App\CamStudio.

It seems like the launcher needs to search for and modify the path to CamStudioPortable\Data\Recordings directory, if it is to be used for output.

Hello!

It seems that screen annotations are broken in 2.6 (Vista, 7...) : no text is displayed when calling a shape except "plain text" shape. One can edit the default text but it does not display too.

I've tried 2.0 an 2.02fr => they both work, but... no screen region, no left&right click color, etc...

Could anyone fix it up cause that feature is really useful, AFAIC!
(or tell me how to fix it up myself if it's not a defect...)

Many thanks.

LMS

Reply to myself.

If anybody cares about screen annotations (and other new tools...), they work fine with the latest (dev) version that you can find right here :

http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/files/next/Camstudio-2.6c.7z/d...

enjoy!

PS : I'm afraid that it's not designed as a portable app, but as there is no installer coming up with that version, then it could also work fine from a device...

I'll check what's wrong with it later today, and I'll get back to you if I see anything.

EDIT: The latest beta you linked to above doesn't work on my system. I get an error that I need a certain dll for it, and I couldn't find any info about it in the forums or docs. But I don't understand why you're not getting screen annotations. The latest stable, non-portable, version of CamStudio had the screen annotations removed, but I re-added them in the latest portable version. I'm not sure why you can't see them. Could you try creating a fresh installation of CamStudio Portable somewhere to see if screen annotations worked then?

Hello everybody

I've just downloaded Camstudio and it's not recording. I push the record button and it seems to start, but the time and megas counter are not running. Could you please help me. It's quite urgent and in my Laptop I have no instalation rights.

Thanks

What operating system are you running? Also, have you tried reinstalling? It might just be a bad install. Also try deleting your Data folder to reset any settings as well.

Hi,

I am using Windows XP professional. I've downlided several tiemes and it doesn`t work. I've deleted few times the complete folder and nothing. Is it any way where I could download previous versions of portable apps?

What service pack of XP are you on? Anything prior to SP3 is generally unsupported by most apps (not to mention insecure).

Service Pack 3.

I've just download it again fron an other mirror service and nothing. The program opens, all menus works, but when hit the record button it doesn't record.

Link to older version to try?
