Mozilla Thunderbird is the safe, fast email client that's easy to use. It has lots of great features including quick message search, customizable views, support for IMAP/POP, RSS support and more. Plus, the portable version leaves no personal information behind on the machine you run it on, so you can take your email and adress book with you wherever you go.
Incompatibles
Earlier today I updated my Thunderbird Portable (13.0.1), in response to the automatic update alert. When it was done, I lost my Lightning Portable (Adds-On) and AVG Email Scanner protection due to "incompatibility".
Twelve hours later I got my Lightning Portable back. Thanks for the quick fix!
However, AVG Email Scanner protection remains disabled because "it is incompatible with Thunderbird 13.0.1". I would be grateful for any advice on how to solve this problem.
AVG
I think the only thing you can do is to ask AVG to update their plugin. I know there are hacks to make it work nevertheless but I wouldnt use them with a security-related addon like the one here.
