Thunderbird 128.4.1 going straight to the Crash Reporter on Windows 11 but works fine on Windows 10

Submitted by pbajoswb on November 12, 2024 - 9:37am

The other week my computer at work was upgraded to Windows 11 after I had issues with it trying to boot.

About the same time I also got the latest update for Portable Thunderbird to update it to 128.4.1 on my portable hard-drive.

Now when I try to run Portable Thunderbird on that work computer the app window tries to display but only shows all white and then the "Thunderbird Crash Reporter" dialog opens after about 5 seconds.

Now taking the hard-drive home. I plug it into my laptop with Windows 10 running on it and everything opens normally.

TB 102.10.1 not using Windows system colors

Submitted by DDE1212 on September 22, 2024 - 12:54pm

I am working on custom CSS for TB 102.10.1 on Win 10 and have discovered that the Portable install is not using the system color scheme for the menu bar at the top. A "regular" installation defaults to use the system color for the menu without any custom CSS. In a "regular" install AccentColor will change the color of an element to the accent color chosen in Windows settings. In the Portable install, it does not have any effect on the elements that I have experimented with.

Thunderbird profile

Hello. Currently using the installed version 128.1.0esr x64. I use it for work and require maximum reliability and don't have any plugins. I just make do with the stock install. Wondering if I can copy the profile folder in \AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ into the portable version and will just work?
Cheers.

Thunderbird portable - 2 buttons needed

Submitted by Dreamer8 on June 27, 2024 - 8:22am

Hello,

I've been using Thunderbird Portable for many years, 32-bit version, now I tried the beta version for bug fix.

I downloaded ThunderbirdPortableTest_128.0_Beta_1_English.paf.exe portable version (64-bit) from PortableApps.com, created backup of my Thunderbird folder, installed portable version over the existing portable 32-bit version, it was started correctly, window positions and sizes are preserved, all settings and accounts are preserved, even though it's a 64-bit version, I updated it to beta 4 successfully.
