OK here's the think. I've just downloaded Toucan. I created a job and closed the application. Now I open it, and I load the job - ZoneAlarm asks me for permission to allow toucan.exe to connect to an IP that seems to be in my network in this format: IP:DNS. If I refuse it freezes. If I allow it goes normal. Why would that happen? Is ZA interpreting something incorrectly?
like a Zone Alarm problem to me, there isnt any code in there that I can think of that should do this, and my firewall doesn't appear (f-secure). Does it just appear when you select the job from the drop down box?
Yes, only when I select a job (no matter for which Tab) and only when that job has something in (I tried making an empty job, just saving something - didn't give an error).
On a side note - I'm a very lite user so I don't know how to use most of its features and I probably don't need them. But what I'd like to know is how do I encrypt my backups? And what is the password on the Backup tab for?
you select the password checkbox then you will be prompted for a password and the backup will be encrypted
Then what does the Secure tab do? Sorry if I'm getting annoying...
problem
The Secure tab can be used to encrypt files individually whereas backup bundles them all together into one file and then can optionally encrypt that file.
Thanks man!
Just one more - is there a way to backup a registry key using Toucan?
afraid not, it is not a very cross platform operation so it wont be added either. But if you wanted I expect you could script it in assuming regedit has command line options.
