HI, As we know, the portable Firefox will store the user profile data in the folders like "...\FirefoxPortable\data\...", and If I set the portable Firefox to be the "default browser" ( my system is windows XP ). Each time I double click on a URL, the "raw Firefox will be executed" instead of the "portable ff", so, a profile will automatically created in the "c:\document and setting\.....".
Does anyone see this problem. How to solve the problem and the let the true portable ff be invoked.
Thanks.
As covered in other posts, setting an app as the default is not supported. You can manually set FirefoxPortable.exe in the registry as your default or use something like DefaultMyFF to set it, but it is not a supported setup.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
But I'm not sure what does the "DefaultMyFF" means. I searched on Google, and get the result that this is a bat file and can start ff from the command line with path specified?
Am I right?
Thanks.
I believe he's talking about something one of the other developers wrote a while back. 'Default My Firefox Portable' if I'm thinking correctly. I wouldn't use it, if you can find it (search these forums), as it was meant for earlier Firefox releases, though realistically it should still work.
Thanks Nah, I use the keywords you give, and finally found two useful links:
for windows XP: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/defaultbrowser.htm
it is a tool to select whether application will be an default browser.
for windows vista: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/register-firefox-portable-with-default...
Thank you very much!
