I'm guessing some file got corrupted?
A fresh install is fine, but I'd rather not loose all my cookies and saved form/passwords.

Just install a new copy over your existing copy. It's called an in-place upgrade. And you can use it to fix corrupted files as well. All your data will be left untouched.
Be sure and determine the cause of the corruption (logical errors on the device, device failing, shorting USB port, unsafe eject) and fix that before doing anything else (including the above-mentioned reinstall). You wouldn't want to make things worse or lose any data. So, it's best to play it safe.

You can try again by fully deleting the FirefoxPortable\App\firefox directory first.
But it sounds like you have an issue in your profile itself that'll need to be worked out. You could try starting in safe mode and then determining which extension is causing the issue. I'd start with any that do anything with search or the interface.

Tried deleting App/other and then installing again, no go. Tried safemode, still broke. So I decided to start over with a new install and now it works.
I think there is a major problem with the 3.0.3 release. I have now got a broken search box again.

That is after starting over with a fresh install. Only 2 addons I use, Adblock Plus and Boss Key (for minimizing to tray).
I keep PFF on a notebook 80GB 7200RPM SATA drive in an external enclosure by AMS ( http://www.american-media.com/ ) The drive itself is fine, full chkdsk comes up with no errors or bad sectors and all other portable apps on there work just fine.
Conflict with the addons maybe?
I have the same issue but my search box were broken on the 3.0.1 version as well and I have upgraded to 3.0.3 and still have a broken search box.
Has any one figured out what causes this problem yet. It is quite annoying having to open google every time I want to do a search.
It is a theme or addon that is interfering. Unfortunately, we can't tell you which one. You'll have to disable/enable to figure it out.
