I have all my portableapps, e.g Thunderbird, Firefox etc, on an USB stick.
The only problem I have is that if anyone gets a hold off my USB stick, then they can login to my email account and see all my personal bookmarks etc.
Is there a portableapp that encrypts the whole USB stick?

Download truecrypt and put it in traverler mode so it will be portable
Excellent. I now have my 1GB USB stick encrypted with Truecrypt in travelers mode.
Thanks.
It does require administrator privileges though

What requires administrator privileges?
My Truecrypt USB portableapps is working fine. What do you mean it needs administrator privileges?
truecrypt needs administrator privileges to be able to open the encrypted part on other machines

Although this works on your home computer, it might not work on one in a library or internet cafe where you are logged on as a guest user.
So what's an alternative to using TrueCrypt then?
they are now more and more on the market, they cost much more then the normal once but if you desire encryption which does work universally, this might be the solution. Take care that the hardware encryption solution does not ask for some windows components (seem to exist such items somewhere too) and works just in the controller on the stick alone.

I will stick with TrueCrypt because it's free![Smile](https://portableapps.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/smile.gif)
FreeOTFE is an alternative of TrueCrypt.
