Hide Internal/Original Splash Screen

My mind has gone blank.

I vaguely remember discussing with John a few months ago on hiding the default Blender splash with the NSIS script. Unfortunately I no longer have my 2.46 file set anymore and cannot remember what I did or even which papp was used as reference for adding to my script.

Can someone please nudge me in the right direction so I can update Blender Portable 2.48 to 2.48a?

I will be leaving the console screen intact still as it is beneficial. I may need to look at a better icon though, as yet I have not had chance.

Oh and thanks to Patrick Blender Portable now has a stable home.

AssaultCube

I believe AssaultCube does what you need... I tink.

Also, if you find yourself unable to connect to my server, use host patrickpatience.com. ftp.patrickpatience.com just kinda dissapeared before I even started working with the DNS last night ... and when I recreate it it doesn't seem to work.

The internal Splash screen

The internal Splash screen comes up AFTER the application has started and will go away as soon as the user moves the mouse. Therefore it cannot act as the PortableApps.com launcher splash screen. And personally think that splash is to make a person clear what version of blender is running and in my opinion the splash should not be touched.

Why do you need a 'better' icon? I remember some icons sets on the internet have a Blender icon included but i remember some apps have their icon changed to another one for no other reason than the developer found the original icon less attractive. I hope that's not the case here though, as it's like plucking the off a logo of an car replacing it with another because you don't like the icon.

PS. always keep older versions of your apps around in case you need something from them.

Yes

I am more than aware that the splash comes up after the application has started and that it disappears as soon as the mouse is moved. I did not want to use it as a PortableApps launcher splash screen. I just wanted to remove it so that only the launcher splash screen shows. The version is quite noticeable at the top of the Blender window, adjacent the Blender home address. The internal splash can be viewed by a user at any time by selecting 'Help' then 'About Blender'.

Don't get me wrong I like the Blender logo but due to a recent hardware failure and subsequent loss of pc data I now run off a laptop running crummy Vista. The logo just doesn't give justice to the application when settings are above medium sized icons. My screen is at 1920x1200 as probably like yourself I do a fair amount of drafting on it.

With regards to the keeping of older versions prior to losing everything on my last pc I had moved everything I had on other servers etc onto the tower ready for a backup at the earliest convenience which was not soon enough.

I am more than happy with my XPS just don't like Vista. I just don't want to mess around reformatting etc and finding XP drivers for the Dell stuff etc.

Edit:
I left it as is for you. Also the revised file set has the vb manifests in ready for use, straight out of the box from the BF.
