GnuCash Portable with leading "8"

Team, I installed GnuCash on a USB memory stick. It looks as the application is installed correctly, however I can insert any booking value in the moment when I leave the input field a leading 8 is added to the value! e.g. inserted 1000.00 leads to 81,000.00. Even inserting 0 leads to 80.00 and so on (80, 880, 8880..)
Any idea what is wrong?
Thanks for your feedback.

Well, at least it means more

Well, at least it means more money. Biggrin

Seriously though, I would recommend a fresh install in a different folder to check if it does the same thing.

The leading "8"

Hi John,
it's easy to make money with GnuCash LOL, the lucky 8 is added to each booking Smile
I deleted all previous files, reinstalled GnuCash, no change, the leading 8 is still there.
Installed it again, now without language support, the application is now in English, the accounts are in German, and I cannot get rid of the 8.
?

Corrupt File

Is it possible your main GnuCash file is corrupt? Try creating a new set of accounts and see how that works.

No progress

created a new set of accounts, still the same. I also noticed that a click into the data field adds an 8 in front. The currency sign is always $ not Euro. How can I make sure that no old or corrupted file is on the stick or somewhere else in the system?

Hmmm

Is it possible you don't have the Euro fonts on that PC? Can you try another PC?

Gnu Cash with leading "8"

Team,
after hours of checking the installation and my "bloody windows XP" I finally found another laptop and guess what it works! So decided to go the "traditional way", reformat my HD and reinstall the applications. Now it works even on my machine. No idea what it is, but the problem occurs definitively on machines who running a security agent in the background. Thanks for you help, I consider this as solved.
