Firefox was working fine yesterday. Today when I try to start I get an XULRunner error box that says:
Error:App:Name not specified in application.ini
This happened earlier this week as well and I assumed that something got corrupted. So, I reinstalled Firefox and everything worked fine for a couple of days.
Windows XP Professional
noname 4GB USB flash drive
No locally installed Firefox
Any thoughts?

Are you using Firefox Portable as a XULRunner host starting web apps? If so, that's not yet supported.

Nope. I'm just trying to start Firefox to browse. It is possible that it is trying to restore sessions that might be webapps, but I think I have that turned off. (that -> restore sessions)
My F:\PortableApp\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\application.ini file was corrupted. There were random character replacements in various places in the file. I now have a backup copy of the corrected version.
