I count around 13 different VoIP brands:

You should be able to use any SIP compliant software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Session_Initiation_Protocol)
to use their services, although their own software is easier to use.
Data for their software appears to be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\[NAMEOFSOFTWARE].
Before using them I would recommend you read the above web links; betamax have a history of removing the "free" status of countries suddenly and without warning.
Their main brand at the moment appears to be www.freecall.com
