A big thank You to all testers!
All founded issues (accept the problem with install to extrem long paths or path with spaces) are solved with the PR2 packages.
Here is the summary of the test results (all post You'll find here:
https://portableapps.com/node/16395)
*The installer comes without any option cause python (installed by default now) was the only option and saves only ~8MB
*All packages come with the Dics for en, de, fr, it, es as removable extensions
*All additional images are removed, because over 90% of the users never change the default icon style (saves ~29MB). An Imagepack for all other users will be released with the final packages.
*English, German and French packages will be released with translated help files, all packages (Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese too) with localised Installers an Launchers
*For all these languages language packs will be available too
Im open to create more packages/lang packs if the Languagefiles for the installer and launcher are available. That means (for example) if a Spanish pack is wanted please ask for and post the text of the translated Installer and Launcher files or post a link to the actual versions.
I'll update the support page in order to catch issues like the installation to long paths or paths with spaces.
@JohnTHaller:Please let me know the place to upload the final packages in order to sign them.
... or votes against a release at the end of the week (if John is able to sign the packages)?

I'm just wondering if the OpenOfficePortable.exe launcher will appear in the PortableApps launcher? It was working fine with beta 2 but not with PR2 French locale. I prefer to keep a single launcher instead of many ones for each OOo component.
Despite one concern addressed in the PR thread, it's almost ready for a public release.
HOWEVER, there's one request I would like to make...
Please include the option just to install ONE "Core" icon (as OpenOffice.org Portable) into PAM instead of having all 6 parts of Open Office in there. I've gotten use to a single icon on the non-portable version of Open Office 3.0 & I'd like the portable version to support it as well.
It's not a critical item, but it's one that I've requested before.

You can just delete the other launchers. They are just there because some people like to use them.
This is PAM related and will be addressed (you'll be able to pick single or multi icons for apps like OOoP).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Maybe you can put out a status update...
As I recall, the core launcher was originally developed because that PAM function wasn't ready for prime time.
Is the new PAM really coming out so soon that nobody will miss the core launcher?
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
While the solo launcher is listed in the Open Office Portable folder, it's not listed in PAM for some reason... hence the note.

Is everyone having lag issues? I'm guessin this is a UPX issue? I'm running from a WD 160 GB portable hard drive on a pc that has 2 GB ram, 2.5 Ghz Dual Core and 160 Gig hard drive so unlikely its a hardware issue. Im using XP SP3. Is it possible to get an uncompressed PortableApps version that might run faster?

but, interestingly, when running OooPortable from the desktop there´s no delay..
Since upx´ed Ooo should consume the ram from desktop as from Usb drive I thought the bottleneck is the usbport. Whether visual studio is installed or not doesn´t make much difference...

The only lag you should have from UPX is when an app launches, or when the app loads DLLs. Constant poor performance is likely a result of a slow thumb drive.
Signature automatically removed for being too awesome.
with read 36 MB/s write 28 MB/s is fast enough for Firefox 3.0, but not for OOo, since I have a slight delay when clicking the menu item and moving the mouse over the drop down menu. With my old "custom" flashdrive the performance is poor..
OOo 2.4.1 is running without complaint on both flashdrives. So, perhaps the performance of OOo 3.0 should be amended..

As stated above i am running from a Western Digital 60 GB portable hard drive on a pc that has 2 GB ram, 2.5 Ghz Dual Core and 160 Gig hard drive so unlikely its a hardware issue.

Try it from the local drive. If it works fine, then it is a hardware issue. Either with the drive itself, the usb interface of the drive or the USB ports no the PC. Or it could be your antivirus in combination with it.

It works?
I copied the OO folder to my desktop, ran it and it was faster than Ive seen it before. I deleted it from desktop and ran from the portable hard drive and it now runs fast. Might be that I had been using the pc for a couple hours before testing OOP?

I think that its ready. I've tried it out and it works fine for me.
