OK After playing around and reading a crap load of info on U3 and what not, I am left with the same question. What exactly makes a U3 USB drive really that much different than an ordinary USB Flash drive besides the fact that the U3 drive is/was partitioned into 2 separate file systems one of which is a CDFS and the a FAT partition.
I know that most standard USB Flash Drives can not be partitioned into more than one partition, but even that can be gotten around.
A lot of people say its Hardware that makes a U3 drive different. I kinda beg to differ. I mean granit Firmware is kinda a combo of both hardware and software together.
So what I was thinking is what is to stop anyone from being able to create a special tool/util that can partition the drive into 2 peices 1 being a CDFS and the other a FAT and presto for all practical purposes you have a U3 (clone). 
Just me thinking a little. But I tend to talk out my A$$ sometimes so bare with me.

Can't do it with just software. You have to reflash the drive with the Firmware. Although, could be possible...
Maybe one for Libertà...
Oh and another thing U3 has is the U3 Launchpad.
