Setup Help

Hello everyone... I have just installed TB Portable, and now I need help setting it up. I would like to set it up for yahoo if possible. I need to know EXACTLY what to do from the first run... that means with the account wizard and everything... I have read that to do yahoo, I need either Yahoo Plus or YPOPS... don't wanna pay for Yahoo Plus and YPOPS seems feasible - if it is portable... I also read something about a webmail add-on that can do the yahoo feature... but I have NO idea on how to set up an email client... never used outlook because I don't like Microsoft products all that much though I do use Windows Vista... so, help please?

Hi Kussetsu I originally had

Hi Kussetsu

I originally had some trouble with setting up a Yahoo account in Thunderbird. After doing some web searches found lots of guides but none that worked for me Sad I did find however that Gmail can be really well integrated into TB. Plus you get IMAP for free whereas with Yahoo is a pay only option (I believe).

here is the PortableApps support Faq - https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable

If you cant set it up with this try connecting to the PortableApps IRC support channel. If you haven't used IRC you can connect by following the instructions on this page - https://portableapps.com/support/chat

Alternatively if you want to just use Gmail (My recommendation) you can find instruction on setting up here -

IMAP Setup - http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77662

POP3 Setup - http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=38343

I personally use IMAP but I understand this may not be a practical choice if you have limited space (I use a 160 gb portable hard drive).

Hope this helps and Welcome To PortableApps.com : )
