Hello and Note re Gimp

First of all I wanted to post a brief thank you to John and the team for a fantastic platform which has become invaluable since I started using it a few weeks ago.

I'm now a heavy user of the portable editions of XAMPP (with DTX), Firefox, Thunderbird, Pidgin, Skype (using the unofficial hack), KeePass and Filezilla, all on a 16Gb stick with regular backups to a server.

And secondly I'd like to encourage those involved, if they visit here, to persevere with the debugging and improvement of the Gimp Background Window plugin - I think it will ease the transition from Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro for many, but after reading the bug list I'm holding off on installing the current version.

Try It

Glad you like it.

On the Background Window, give it a try and see if you can live with the couple bugs. I don't mind em so much. And if you don't like it, it's a simple uninstall without affecting GIMP Portable permanently at all.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

speaking of the GIMP

speaking of the GIMP Background Window, is the source for it available anywhere? if it was, someone on the site may be able to pick it up and help get rid of some of the bugs.

But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Of Course

It's in our SF project and linked from the homepage of the app like all our sources.

I haven't had any problems

I haven't had any problems with the Background window. The only request I have is that I wish the background window could close Gimp. I know this is a limitation at the moment, but hopefully someone can figure it out.
